LAKE FUN

This is the dock from the boat. You can see their house up the hill. It's a gorgeous setting.

Wyatt's favorite thing was tubing. He was on forever!
Lily liked tubing but her favorite was the jet ski-she did not want to get off of it! She and I rode it for a long time. We were getting a lot braver after a while and she was yelling at me to go faster and jump waves. She is such a daredevil!

Wyatt driving the boat.

Lily jumping in.

Lily on the jet ski with her "dadaddy"---Jeff's dad.
Wyatt had a few balance issues with the jet ski.

We had a super weekend in Lexington. Went out with my parents and brother Friday night. Spent Saturday at the lake with Jeff's dad and step mom. We love it there. The kids have a great time playing and swimming and it's so relaxing. We'll go back later this summer to spend a whole weekend there. We love to take the boat to the different marinas to eat. We actually looked at a marina that is for sale. Jeff would love to buy one and run it. We weren't too impressed with this one and would only do it if the perfect one came along. Sunday we went to church with my fam and out to lunch. All the dad's had good father's days. We then took Jeff's mom out to lunch(yes, that's right---2 lunches yesterday-have to be good this week!). Her b-day is Tuesday so we took her out for that. It was just a nice, though busy, weekend.

The kids are at VBS right now. They were excited to go. There were about 300 kids there. They each took a friend, but knew tons of kids there, too. Our church has a really good VBS. It gives me a few hours each day to myself, too, which is nice!

I love how Jeff (far right) has a polo pony on his shirt.
Lily's sidewalk chalk art. Kind of hard to see, but it says I (heart) my family! by Lily, with a pic of all of us. How sweet.
Lily has had tennis camp all this week. It's one of the free ones through the schools. She really loves it.
Wyatt took his racket, too and practiced on an open court.
Before tennis camp we went to the free weekly movie offered by our local theater. It was Barnyard. The kids hadn't seen it and it was really cute. We met some friends there and went to lunch afterwards. We pretty much took over the restaurant with 7 kids! They had a great time!

I'm so happy about this. I found out about this time last year that a great Myrtle Beach landmark, The Pavilion, was closing. Well, I just found out that they have taken some of the oldest rides and added them to another of our favorite spots, Broadway at the Beach. They have recreated a mini pavilion there and are calling it the Pavilion Nostalgia Park. So cool. It opens right before we go, too. I love it that there is something new there every year to do. One of the kids favorite rides, The Caterpillar was saved. They will be so happy, since they thought last year would be the last time they ever got to ride it.

Here are a couple of soccer pics a mom on the team sent me. They were using these giant umbrellas to keep the sun off. The top one is of the team with their trophies after their last game.
The kids had their yearly check ups today. They were so happy they didn't have to get any shots. Wyatt almost did. I guess they changed the booster he needed so they don't get it until age 11. He was happy.
I was glad she told Lily she still needed to be in a car seat, though. I knew she did and she really doesn't mind, but a couple of times she has said "But I AM 8." She is still too small for the seat belt to fit her correctly, though and the Dr said her knees should be able to bend over the edge of the seat with her back against the back. I think the law should be by size and not age. 8 year olds vary so much.
She also told Wyatt he needs to eat his vegetables. Yeah, right. We're making baby steps-and we're happy about that.
Oh, and the puberty thing. Yep. Confirmed. Mood swings for the next several years. Yippee!

We washed both cars today inside and out-even cleaned the carpets. Mine was so far gone-it feels great to have it done! Lily was a big help with Jeff's but I think she had had enough by the time we got to mine.

Oh, forgot to mention Wyatt's "summer job". The next door neighbor is paying him to water her lawn. He just has to move the sprinklers around in the front yard and she's paying him $4 a day. He's excited. She even made out a whole chart for him like a time card that he has to initial and turn in at the end of every week. Then he gets paid. I think it will be good for him. He can save some spending money to take to Myrtle Beach, too.

Coming into 3rd. He's safe!
Scoring the run!

Whew, we just got back from a 3 hour bike ride! Today is just the PERFECT outdoor weather-no humidity and we had no commitments at all--a rare event. So, we rode out to Forest Park, then onto Subway in downtown Noblesville for lunch. We then rode out to Morse Beach. The kids did great. We just had a couple of complaints from Wyatt and Lily fell once or twice going over some big bumps and down a huge grassy hill, but all in all extremely enjoyable.
Here are a couple of pictures of Wyatt's baseball double header Thursday night. He had a hitting camp that day and his first at bat, first pitch he slugged it into the outfield. He went on to hit the ball the next time but got out at first and he got walked the next time. I think the camp really helped him.

We're heading up to the pool now to cool off!!

I was amazed when my kids both asked to work on their summer packets last night. I thought they would at least want a day's break from school!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

Lily with 2 of her friends from class.
Saying goodbye.
Lily with Mrs. Radant.

Before school.
Wyatt going up to get one of his awards.
The last march out of the school.
Wyatt with Mrs. Fritz.
I took this same exact picture on Wyatt's first day of Kindergarten. I'll have to dig it up to compare!
Well, I must say yesterday was an emotional day. They really make the last day of school special for the 4th graders. Their awards program is in the morning. I knew Wyatt was going to get the A-B honor roll award, but was surprised by a couple of others he got. They announced the attendance awards. Lily got her 98%--due to her broken arm. Then they announced the 100%. Wyatt's name was not called. I was thinking--darn it-they counted him absent for Space Camp-which they were not supposed to. But he wasn't called for 98% either. The teacher I work with caught my eye and said just hang on. So the principal said he had some special attendance awards to announce. The following students have had 100% attendance for 2 years straight. 2 kids got an award. One student has had 100% for 3 years straight. They announced a boy. Then the following student has had 100% attendance for 4 years straight. Wyatt Searcy. What a great surprise. He also got the President's Education Award, for which a 90% average for the year and Pass + in both Language Arts and Math on I-Steps is required. He got a certificate and letter from the White House and "signed" by the president, plus a pin. He also got a certificate and a pin for safety patrol and also for graduating. I was very proud of him.
Then, they showed a video of the 4th graders through the years--starting with pics from Kindergarten all the way up. The music itself was enough to make you lose it.
At the end of the day, they paraded throught he hallway and out the front door with all of the other grades lining the halls and clapping and saying goodbye.
I could tell Wyatt was doing his best to hold it together a few times.
It was hard for me to say goodbye to the kids I worked with, too. They all kept asking me if I was going to be back next year, and when I said yes-they cheered. Yeah-made me feel good. I feel very blessed to have my job. I feel like it was made for me and I could not think of a better place to work than Hinkle Creek.
I'm looking forward to the break, but I will also look forward to going back when the time comes. Let the summer begin!!!

WHAT A WEEKEND!

Well, as you can tell from my many posts below, we had a very busy weekend! I'm glad it's over! Lily had a soccer game Friday night, 2 on Saturday and 1 today. She also had dance recital pictures Saturday. Wyatt had a baseball game Saturday night. Whew! Tomorrow is another busy evening with dance and baseball practice and since Jeff is out of town, I will be doing both. It should slow down later this week once school is out. 2 more days!!

RECITAL COSTUMES

This is her ballet costume. The colors are so pretty. The pics were taken in a giant padded seashell that had been used in a local production of The Little Mermaid. Lily thought it was pretty cool.
This is the tap costume. The theme, obviously, is a pirate theme. They looked really cute. They took these pics with them looking through a telescope.

SOCCER

Lily and her team--The Penguins. They had a lot of fun playing together.

Lily fighting for the ball-she's #20. Look at all of those ponytails flying!!
Corner kick.
Taking it down the field after the steal.

Well, Lily had her last soccer game of the season today. It was a tie at 0-0. We played a new team who we had played in our first game and beat them pretty easily then. They have improved a lot! Lily played a great game--taking it down the field several times. She made some great steals and passes, too. I'm amazed at how far she's come--she is definitely more aggressive than she was in the beginning. I think she has a lot of potential with some really good, instructional coaching.

Lillies. That's Wyatt watering the vegetables.
Daisies.
Tons of little grape tomatoes on the vine.

2ND GRADE FIELD DAY

Sack race.
Lily and Emma with their popscicles.
Wow-look at all of those 2nd graders!

Relay race.
A tag game where they stood in pairs.
Lily and another Emma.
Lily starting the water balloon toss.
The final catch-her pair was the last one left!

GOAL!!!

Yay! Lily scored her first goal today! It was so exciting! She played her butt off the whole game! We were so proud of her! Of course I didn't get a picture of her scoring, but I'll post the pics I did get later.

The kids latest obsession-PlayFoam. Lily got it for her birthday and it is the coolest stuff. Not messy at all. Below is one of the things she made with it.

We had a good weekend last weekend. The pics above are from a get together at the Allen's. We had a good, relaxing time. Here it is almost the weekend again and I haven't posted. 7 baseball and soccer games in 6 days kind of makes it hard to! It's gonna be crazy til next week and then should slow down a bit. 3 more days of school!!!! YAY!
