1st PLACE!!

Doing the experiment.
Korbyn and Lily working on their project. These were some pics we used on the board.
At lunch after the judging waiting for the results.
Yay! First place! Way to go Korbyn and Lily!!
Lily participated in the science fair today. She partnered up with her friend Korbyn. They won first place ! They were SOOOO excited! When we got back and saw the blue ribbon by their board, Lily started crying! I was proud of them. They knew the material well and did well in front of the judges. How nerve wracking--to go in a huge room in front of judges and talk about your project. They were so nervous. Whatever they did must have worked!

HI ANNA!!!

Believe it or not, we were out of school Wednesday because of freezing fog. This is a pic of a pile up on the highway because of it. The day started as a 2 hour delay. The fog was so thick I couldn't see the neighbor's house across the street. It wasn't clearing up, so they cancelled school altogether! Crazy. I feel like we haven't gone to school at all lately!
We have a fairly busy weekend. Each of the kids have a birthday party to go to.
One tomorrow and one Sunday. We also have the science fair tomorrow. Lily's project turned out really well. Her and her partner did a great job on it. Wyatt has his last basketball game tomorrow also. He has really enjoyed playing this year and will miss it. Baseball is coming soon enough, I guess.
I found out today that I will have my job next year also if I want it. The teacher I work with had a lot of positive things to say to me today from a conversation she had with our principal. It made me feel so good. It's been a long time since I've worked and been able to get any kind of positive reinforcement from anyone other than friends or family. Very good for the self esteem I have to say. I'm so happy, too, because I really love this job.
Well, better go figure out what the plans for dinner are.

The temp was actually in the 40's today--Wow-heat wave. As a result, the snow was finally the right consistency for a snowman. It was extremely nice to walk outside and not be miserably cold. After our yoga class this morning, the kids and I did some shopping. It was a nice, relaxed day. Hopefully this next week will be a routine week after the last couple we have had. It's supposed to get up into the 60's later in the week. Yahoo! There's light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Lily and I did a mother/daughter yoga class this morning that my friend Amanda teaches. Lily did awesome and was a natural at it. She loved it so much that she kept doing it once we got home. It's the first time I have done yoga, too, and it was definitely harder than it looks. It takes a lot of strength and balance. Also, flexibility which I think is why Lily did so well. We will definitely do another class.

Does it get any better than this?
I do love my job!

WISHFUL THINKING...........................

Friday, February 16, 2007

OK, the snow came, we had our fun, now it can go away!! The kids even said today that they are tired of the snow and ready for it to be gone! It's fun at first, but once the novelty wears off, not so much. Unfortunately, it looks like we have more on the way tonight! Today was the coldest day of the year so far with the REGULAR temp this morning at -6. Yikes! Luckily, it is supposed to warm up next week and hopefully melt all the snow.
It's hard to believe it's the weekend after going to school for only 2 days this week--one of them not even being a full day. Now we have a 3 day weekend.
Jeff and I are going to Matteo's, a fantastic Italian restaurant tonight, for a late valentine's dinner, since the kids have movie night at school. Should be yummy! We had lunch there once, never dinner, but have heard it's wonderful. It'll be nice--it's been a while since we've had a night out-just the 2 of us.
Otherwise, a pretty low key weekend to look forward to. Basketball on Saturday and picking up Wyatt's new glasses (He's excited because they are Nike brand)-- that's about it I think. Maybe I'll actually get something done around here. I spent too much time playing these last few days and got nothing done!!

SLEDDING FUN

Wyatt going down the hill.

Just a pretty snow scene at the park.

I took this in my yard this morning. Nothing prettier than a cardinal against the snow.
Everyone heading off to sled.
It was a really long hill. The perfect steepness and a nice long ride.
Lily right before she caught 2 feet of air and hurt her back.
Ashley and I took the kids to McDonald's for lunch today and then sledding. Mimi and Michael met us there to sled, too. It was an awesome place. We were the only ones there for most of the time because it was in a town where they had school today. It makes me nervous to sled where there are lots of people. Both sides were tree lined so we got no wind and with the sun out it didn't feel too cold at all, even though the temps were low. There were several different hills and the first one we tried had way too many bumps. Lily went down and flew into the air, landing hard on her back. It knocked her breath out and her back hurt for a bit. But she was fine. We switched to a long hill that was perfect. You went fast and it was a good long ride. There was a place where it was rutted out and the sleds stayed right in the groove, which was nice. The kids had fun and I guess we sledded for about 2 hours.
School is delayed 2 hours tomorrow. Then we have a 3 day weekend. Man, we are gonna forget how to go to school.

UPDATES

No school again tomorrow. Geez-enough already--I'm ready to go back! Oh well, the kids are excited---I guess. I really think they're ready to go back, too.
The code to Lily's Webkin didn't work for some odd reason, so we took it back to exchange. To show how popular these things are, I had a hunch that I should call and have them hold one like hers just in case. When we bought hers they had about 6-8 of the one she got. When we went a couple of hours later to switch hers, they were all gone. Her new code works and she has had a blast playing with it. It really is a cute concept.

BLIZZARD 2007

This is our little picnic table on the patio. The benches are totally under the snow.

Wyatt's legs are down in a 4-5 foot tall snow drift.
It's hard to tell from the pic but this snowdrift is HUGE!

Snow angel.
This is on our deck. 18 inches.
Our neighbors yard with huge drifts.

Jeff out shoveling.

Sam, Abbey and Lily playing in the snow.
Happy Valentine's Day. A big heart with a snow angel in the middle.
Look how high the snow is around our mailbox.
Sledding down the "steps" of our deck.

Our house.
Lily's igloo her daddy made her.
Abbey and Lily in the igloo.
Master shoveler. Our neighbor always snow blows it for us, but Jeff said he was doing this instead of the treadmill today.

Well, we ended up with about 15 inches of snow. Some of the drifts are huge. 4-5 feet I would say. Lily has had a blast in it all day. Wyatt is still a little under the weather and only got out for a bit.
We ventured out once to go to the Hallmark store. Lily's valentine's gift was money for a Webkinz that she has been DYING for. So we called and they had just gotten a new shipment in today. We HAD to rush right over and get one. Now she is waiting for me to finish to get on here and activate it. Here is the one she got.
Wyatt wanted to go to Game Xchange to spend his money, but it was closed. I told him we'd try again tomorrow. His coach just called to say no practice tonight and told me that of all the team members she had called, we were the only ones that had had our street plowed. So now I'm wondering about school tomorrow. Surely, they'll get it plowed before morning. We'll see. The break has been nice but I'm really ready to get back to the routine.
Well, Lily is chomping at the bit to get on here.

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

Well, the snow DID come! In a big way! I'd say we have at least 10 inches right now and it's still snowing. School was called off today and also for tomorrow--which doesn't happen that often around here! Our neighbors ended up coming over for vegetable soup tonight that I made. I never seem to be able to make it without making way too much! It was kind of a lazy day otherwise. The only thing I accomplished is I did read Bridge to Terabithia. Wyatt is taking a group to see it for his birthday and I wanted to know what it was about because I heard it was sad. It was. I cried. But it is a really good story and I am looking forward to seeing the movie.
The only bummer about the kids missing school tomorrow is they will miss their valentine parties. Hopefully they will have them Thursday or Friday. They had their valentines all made out and ready to go a few days early. They did them all themsleves this year without me even having to prod them. I didn't even help them-they were so into it.
We'll see what tomorrow brings. I'm sure I'll be itching to get out of the house. I can't tell you the last time I was home for 2 whole days in a row. Not sure I can handle it! Maybe I'll get out and shovel some snow!

Monday, February 12, 2007

We have 12 inches of snow supposedly on it's way! We'll see--could be a snow day tomorrow!

Lily with Alissa and Emma.
Lily and Jeff dancing.
Emma and Lily dancing.
I snapped this pic when she was trying to think of how she was gonna pose next.
What a cute little cow poke.

What a great weekend it was. I got to spend quality time alone with each of my kids and it was so nice. We decided we are going to make this a regular thing. I couldn't believe the things they both talked to me about----about school, friends, etc. Wyatt and Jeff had a great time at the Pacers game and Lily and I had a wonderful night out also. Lily and Jeff had a great time at the father daughter dance, too, and Wyatt and I enjoyed our night at the movies together.
